Basement Finishingin Chapel Hill & the Triangle

The work

What's Included

Below grade, moisture management is the whole game — get it right and you've added an entire floor of living space; get it wrong and you've built a mold problem with carpet on it. We start with drainage, sealing, and egress, then build the space you actually want down there.

  • Moisture management & sealing
  • Egress windows & code compliance
  • Framing, insulation & drywall
  • Media rooms, gyms & offices
  • Guest suites & full baths
  • Flooring, lighting & storage

Why one team

One Contract. One Point of Contact.

A basement finish fails from the outside in: water that a framer didn't know about, insulation installed against a damp wall, a bathroom with nowhere for the drain to go. One team owning the whole job means the water, the egress, and the plumbing are solved before the drywall goes up — not discovered after.

“Let the house tell you what’s possible.”

FAQ

Basement Finishing: Common Questions

Does a basement need to be dry before it's finished?

Yes. Finishing over a moisture problem just hides it. We look at where water is coming from — grading, gutters, drainage, the walls themselves — and deal with that first, then build with materials suited to a below-grade space.

What is an egress window, and do I need one?

An egress window is an opening big enough to climb out of in an emergency. Building codes generally require one for basement bedrooms and other habitable basement space. We'll tell you exactly what your layout needs before it's drawn.

Does finishing a basement need a permit?

Generally, yes — turning unfinished space into living space usually needs a building permit and inspections. We pull every required permit and coordinate every inspection.
